Jesus

What is the Gospel?

What is the good news about Jesus?

Jesus is the light of the world.

John 8:12
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
(NKJV)

In Him is life.

John 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
(NKJV)

God sent His Word (Jesus) into the world to shine the light of life.  Jesus (the Word) became flesh and dwelt among us.

John 1:14
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
(NKJV)

Jesus is the only begotten of the Father.  He is the one true Son of God.  He is God manifest in the flesh.  He is the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person.

Hebrews 1:1-4
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
(NKJV)

Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

1 Timothy 1:15
15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners
(NKJV)

We all, every man, woman, and child have sinned (done wrong) and fallen short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
(NKJV)

But through Jesus (the One true Son of God) shedding His blood on the cross (as a sinless sacrifice) we can be justified (made just or innocent) through faith in Him.

This is the gift of God.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
(NKJV)

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
(NKJV)

God’s gift to sinners (all who have sinned) is love.  It is Jesus (love) manifest in this world, to justify us and bring us back to Himself.

Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(NKJV)

Romans 5:10
10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
(NKJV)

It is through Jesus death, burial, and resurrection that we are saved.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
(NKJV)

What shall we do with this gospel (good news)?  We are to repent and believe in the gospel.

Mark 1:14-15
14 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
(NKJV)

We are to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus.

Acts 2:38
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(NKJV)

You can repent and believe in the gospel right now!

Just pray this prayer to God from your heart.

Dear God, creator of all things.  I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ your Son.  Please forgive me for my sins.  I have done wrong and do not deserve to be saved but I believe that you showed your love for me by sending Jesus do die for my sins.  I believe that Jesus died, was buried, and that He rose again.  I repent and believe in the good news.  Jesus, I declare you, Lord.  I will serve you every day of my life.  Thank you for saving me now.  In the name of my Lord Jesus.  Amen.

You have just entered the kingdom of God.  God has become your Father.  The bible says that you now have a new heart and a new spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26-27
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
(NKJV)
